There just has been no photo worthy moments in the last few days. They are finishing with the septic line, the footers are being dug, and the house man came out and approved the space for the house. I was worried about that. Not that we did not have enough space, but I was just worried something would make it not happen. Wrong. It is all good. I heard the dozer almost fell down the hill, and that would have been great to catch on film, but I missed it. We have chosen cabinets and furniture, and now must decide on counter tops. When the house arrives, hopefully in two weeks, we will actually order all this stuff.

So in the mean time, let me tell you a story. It is a good story and has pictures for all those who hate to read.

Two summers ago Ann, Debbie (my sister-in-law), and I decided to go on a dune ride at Lake Michigan. It was one where you got your own jeep, did the driving yourself, and were instructed by way of the radio by the lead guy. We had a small group of only three jeeps, and Ann was excited to drive. I thought I was also until the whole thing began. ( I have a video of the beginning of the trek, and if I can find it I will load it.) I found it. It was taken on the way to Lake Michigan. We are just beginning to hit the bumpy dunes, and the leader is giving us history via the radio. This has to be attached as a link; my expertise is just not good enough to put the whole YouTube thing here.

So I am in the back seat of the jeep, Ann is driving and Deb is riding shotgun. We follow the leader to the dunes, and the terror begins. He has Ann driving up and over dunes. She is squealing with delight, Deb is silent with fear, and I am rising off the seat each time we go over a dune. Yes, I had a very good seat belt on, but there were seat belts for two skinny people in the back and every time I went in the air, I flew down onto one of the belt housings. This is my bruise.

The dogs were back at Deb and Dave’s cottage ( So totally wrong a term; it is a summer house.), and when we got back Xena was in the yard. She had jumped through a screen for some unknown reason, and had escaped. RD was inside, not very happy about the whole thing. Now for all of you who know Xena (don’t make eye contact) you know what a chicken dog she is. Well, she took to Deb right, away, and Deb was able to pet her the first night.

So that is my story and I am sticking to it. Deb and Dave’s place is on a small lake, whose name I don’t think I ever knew. They are close to Lake Michigan, which is my last photo of the evening. Hard to take a bad photo of Lake Michigan.

  1. Is the mpg clip supposed to be only 1 sec long because that’s all I can get to play.

About YouTube: Have you ever considered uploading your mpg’s onto Youtube and then get a VodPod and put all your home movies in it and then put your vodpod on this blog so we all can see them.

    Just a thought

  2. That clip works from home, works on Ann’s computer, and I just viewed on my work computer.

Having the VodPod thing sounds great, but I think it is a plug in. It seems that because I am only using the shell of WordPress, from my own server and web page, I cannot add any more plug ins. I will call them tonight and find out. That is what I wanted to do in the first place.

My other solution is to get a blog from the actual Word Press, and host it on my own space. However, I would lose everything I have done. I don’t think the videos are that important.

I am hoping most people can access them. If not, I will not put anymore on. I was looking forward to doing one of the erection of the house, but I don’t have to.

  3. OMG….kathie….your dune buggy story had me cracking up…..especially picturing you being tossed in the air everytime you went over a dune….lmaooooo….of course the bruise you have isn’t funny but thanks for the laugh. :)
