We looked at flooring today and cannot decide on what to do. There is wonderful vinyl that costs more than carpeting.  There is carpeting that costs more than the average college education.  There is wood.  We are looking for creative alternatives.  One friend said she saw plywood squares that had been nailed at the corners, stained, and polyurethaned…and she said it was beautiful.  Hmmmm, any ideas???
We think we have the cabinets, decks, and stairs all figured.  Monday afternoon we are meeting with the contractor again to try and shave off at least five thousand dollars more.

Tomorrow morning we are getting a third quote on grading and septic.  This is all exhausting.  I will be happy when everything is decided and we just have to wait. Oh, me wait?? hahah I have no waiting ability, so I will be doing valium.

Note the tabs at the top. I am putting up photos of the whole family and extended family pets.

  1. Keeping up with you while here in Illinois. I see Jack made your photos. You might want to keep the wine handy while undergoing this trauma. Keep in touch.

  2. You both have good taste so I am sure that whatever you pick will look just beautiful! But, I would stock up on the margarita fixins if I was you! LOL :-)

  3. Oh…I saw a rubber membrane used for flooring once. The same stuff that’s used for flat balcony roofs. It looked fairly easy to put down but I am not sure of the price. We are considering it for our LR.

  4. We are now thinking we could do tile floors in the bathrooms; though Ann says I need to take a class at Lowes. Becky, I think your dad is going to help us put laminate in a few of the rooms. That would be a great help, and we would sure appreciate it.
