Our footers are done. The inspector is to be out today and then the foundation can be poured. But, what was I thinking footers were? I honestly thought they were the cinder block foundation at each corner. Nope, nothing like that. Footers are simply a trench dug at the perimeter of the house….get this….ONE FOOT DEEP. Duh…
The inspector measures the depth, and I understand that they have to make sure the house is set on a firm foundation. When the blocks and concrete are poured, a friend suggested we put something special in the foundation. She said someone she knows put crystals in there, but we are not into the crystal thing. If I had not buried my two cats’ ashes, I would put that in. ( Morbid, yes?) So, if you have any comments before tomorrow, let me know.
The puppy is doing well. He seems to be pretty close to house breaking. If we take him out every two hours, he goes. He did have an accident in the office, but I honestly think he smelled the kitty liter in there and figured it was the place. We have since put a puppy pad in there and all is well. He sleeps in his crate all night, but did get me up at six this morning. I took the whole herd out only to watch them sit on the back porch and go back to sleep. At least a got a good photo out of the deal.
We don’t know where the puppy came from, but he had obviously been enrolled in yoga, because he has some very interesting sleeping positions.
He likes to sleep on on the heat vent.

Okay, the place is coming along!! Wait til you see the footers poured! That’s a great day. And, I have to read the blog to know you have a new family member?! Brando’s a really cutie pie. Can’t wait to meet him.
FYI, Coco Chanel is a big girl now. She doesn’t like it much, but she does stay home alone sometimes. I’ve very proud!

How about a time capsule or something similar. A small metal box with maybe pictures, notes (little wishes on paper), stuff like that or anything you want. You could bury it right at the corner of the foundation (in case you wanted to dig it up sometime in the future).

Hey there Kathie… (Hi Ann, we haven’t met.. I’m an old friend of Kathie) .. what a pretty area .. trees surrounding your house… no wonder you like it better than Hoboken. Hmmm.. $400 for a porta potty? I hope those workers appreciate it. Great looking puppy!!!!! Ah yes, I remember the chewing and eating habits of puppies. My furniture still bears the teethmarks of a puppy we owned 34 years ago.
