I had better hurry and post these interior photos, because I want to take some photos of the stud walls in the morning and post them.
We have been dealing with electricians, plumbers and the rest all week. Some of them are ruthless. One threatened to have our permits pulled if we did not hire him. Duh, he cannot do that but thought we “girls” were too stupid to know that. I have learned to not hire anyone by the hour, even the guys doing the stud walls. We came back to the house twice and found no one working, but then were charged for that time. We did not pay, by the way.
I did not realize that the electrician would be our biggest expense. We do not have a drywall estimate yet, and I am sure it will be high, but it will not be equal to the electrician. We even have to hire someone to dig a trench eighteen inches deep down the hill to the well. It seems the guy who had the meth lab dug the electric line up to sell the interior copper. He actually cut it at the pump. So we have to have it trenched and a line buried. Who would have thought.
This week the plumber should start and finish, the heat/cooling guy should start, and the electrician should be close by. I am guessing (a dangerous thing to do) that we should be looking at insulation and a rough inspection within two weeks. Then the drywall guy will do his thing, and we are close to being done. BUT WAIT! There is a six to eight week delay on the power being put underground, so we could be sitting for a while after things are finished. The good news with that is that we could do all the painting before we move in.
We are looking for vinyl floor covering with flowers, especially daisies or sunflowers, but cannot find any. Anyone ever seen such a thing?
On to the photos….
This is the door to the deck in the back, when there is a deck to the back. We are putting in one of those patio doors that looks like a French door, but only one side opens.
This is the loft area where there will be a bedroom on the right and a closet to the left of the window. It will be one of only two closets in the house. We will have to store our stuff on the front porch like so many others!!
This will be the living room. It is open to the next floor. That door is sitting there until we sell it on Craig’s List. It came with the house and was to be the front door, but wanted something different.
This one below is looking at what will be the bedroom on the right, bathroom in the middle and laundry in the front with that big window.
This is the kitchen window, which will have the sink below it. There will be a wall coming from in between the bedroom and kitchen windows. We are planning on an island cabinet somewhere, with stools.
This is a view of the open living room from up above. I will be glad when the stairs are in because climbing a ladder up is a bit frightening.
This is the dining room with the door out to the soon to be deck.
This is where the big closet upstairs will go. It will be interesting figuring out how and where to put the clothes rod.
And finally, this is the loft area that will stay open. The upstairs bathroom will be immediately on your left, but the corner is going to be left open and used as an office/den.
It is not a big house, but I think it will be very nice. It will be homey, and we are excited about that.
