We are really getting near move in day. The dry wall is up, and it just has to be finished. I am told that will take a whole week. Everyone who has seen the sheet rock up has said the guy did a really good job. The fence is up except for the gate at the far end. We have a lot to do, but much of it can be done when we move in.
Here is a photo of the front of the house, stained and painted.
Right now this looks like something out of New Mexico! I took this while standing in the living room. On the far left is the laundry/half bath. The hole halfway up the stairs is the air exchange.
This is the loft area. The box is a bathroom; the opening you see is the door of the closet. We have been brainstorming about what kind of a banister to put up. It has to pass code, but we did not want to pay thousands of dollars for it. We thought of picket fencing. So that is what we are going with. We are going to stain it with the house stain, and put the pickets across the loft and use them for our stairs also.
This is the living room, kitchen, dining area.
Next Saturday the interior will be sprayed with the white primer. Then we can start painting. I do not think we will finish before we move in, but at least we will have the upstairs done before the carpet arrives. I am going to see about a sprayer.
This week’s big deal is the mechanical room. We spent a fortune on a backhoe for a twenty-four hour period. The digging will be finished on Monday, and then they will begin actually building the support wall and stairs. Who knew that would be such a project. They will build stairs to each door, front and back, and then we should be set until after our Certificate of Occupancy inspection. That is when we will have the deck done. I am hoping there are no surprises with the inspection, as we have done everything we are suppose to do.

LOVE the picket fence idea for the banister and stairs!
