I have no photos, but I will tonight or tomorrow. We went out yesterday to take a light and it looks like a real house. The grader (grater?) finished it all up and picked up all the junk in the yard. It is an amazing job. The electrician hung all the fixtures, except one, but that will be next paragraph, the floor in the bathroom is finished, and the plumber did all his fixtures. Actually, the only finished room in the house is the bathroom.

We chose an amazingly big and beautiful fan/light to hang down into the living room. The problem was that the angle of the roof on that side of the house is so severe that it could not be hung. But, my buddy Dottie send me a gift card to Home Depot and with it we bought a big, beautiful hanging light that matches the lights in the kitchen and dining room. You have to understand that the kitchen, living room and dining room are all one big room. Open floor plan.

The cabinets are up. The appliances are in place, except the range is still out in the living room, but I will place it before photos. As soon as we can get the baseboards in we can get our carpet. Ann’s brother will put down the floor in the downstairs whenever we find what we want. The walls need painting, but we are going to have to hire someone to do that, because we are both horrible at it, and it is a big job. Ann’s brothers are making the stair railing and hopefully the loft railing today. Then on Saturday, Ann’s brother Larry will hang our bathroom door. We will be ready for final inspection except for the counters and the front door lock. Both those should be completed this weekend. Our only worry is that we will need a railing around the entrance to the basement. It might pass, but it might not. If not, we will have to quickly run and get some kind of rail or fence around it. Hopefully, Ann will be there and can explain that she is going to build planters all the way around instead of a fence. I don’t know if they will pass you on a promise.

We will get the porta potty and the dumpster off the property next week. That will be an improvement also.
I will leave you with a photo.   Sometimes I wonder how the puppy has adjusted to our home, heck we yell at him all the time. He must either think his name is “No” or No Bite!” However, this is what I saw yesterday morning, a sweet Ann and Brando photo moment. I want to remind all of you that Brando is only six months old. It might be that the reason he is so difficult to train is that he is not a dog, but a horse.

  1. Glad to hear the house is almost done! I bet you both are happy about that.

I love the pic of Ann and Brando. Very sweet picture!

  2. what a CUTE pic!! :)

  3. The most frightening thing about that photo is that that dog is only six months old. What size will he be full grown?

  4. I have been woefully out of touch but thinking about you guys constantly. I can’t wait to see the place again. It sounds fantastic, and having seen it when the walls were up and the placement of the rooms obvious, I know it is going to be beautiful. When do you move in?

PS - no, they probably won’t give you a pass on the inspection with a promise about the railing. Can you rig something/anything before the inspector arrives?
