So, what else could happen you asked…

It began with the hundred year drought. The sky opened up on Monday and the rain has been falling ever since. We failed our final inspection on Monday because we did not have a railing around our basement steps. Ann jumped into action and by the time I got to the house, she has all the necessary lumber and hardware. We erected a railing by nine the next morning, using six foot sections of premade deck railing. It looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. I will get a photo of that today. It has been too muddy at the end of the house to get there to take a picture.

This is how the day progressed. Wednesday, day three of rain the movers got stuck in the mud in what we fondly call a driveway. They have to come back on Monday and finish moving us. The mini-pod we had in the driveway was taken, but the guy was afraid of the rain, as many of these pods had been stuck that morning. So after he took it, he called and suggested it be taken to their storage until it dried up. That is how bad the rain was ….is..it is suppose to rain today too.

Then Ann’s truck got a flat tire. These tires are only a month old, but heaven knows what kind of metal there is in our driveway right now….under all that mud.

The good news is that we have electricity !!!!!! We have our priorities and immediately put into our frig our most important thing.

We love our light fixtures!! The hanging light with the leaves is one of five matching. We have two ceiling lights like it in the kitchen and two hanging ones, one over the yet existent island and one over the dining room table. These are all seen at one time. The shell looking light is in the stairway. We did not want too much light, but we wanted enough so that we did not break our necks going up and down the stairs. There is also one at the top of the stairs.

This is the mess that is our kitchen. There will be an island under that hanging light as soon as the floor is put in. There is another big cabinet, but we took it out for inspection because we could not cut the odd shaped counter top. But look out the door. Trees. Look out the window. Trees .

Our heat works. Our lights work. Our well does NOT work. Well, the well works, we are just not getting any water. It seems there is a break in the line, hopefully near the house and not down the hill near the well. The well guy thinks grader hit the line.

We also need to put gravel or road bond down on the driveway NOW. We had hoped to do it down the line, but if it rains like this again before we have it done, we will not get out. It will also help when we have gutters, so the rain will not settle in the front of the house. The gutters should be here in a week or so. Who knew the gutter people were so busy.

By Monday we should be in the house…if we have water. If not, we will still be in the house….
