Today we get a kitchen!!!

It is 5:45 AM, and this will be short. I hope to get out there this afternoon and take photos; it has been such a mess I have not wanted to for a while.

But today is different. Today we get a kitchen. The appliances arrive this morning, and the cabinets are going up! By this afternoon we should have the looks of a kitchen, minus counter top, which is going to wait a while. Ann’s brothers are coming out this morning to put the cabinets up and hopefully make a stair railing. The carpet arrives this morning also; I almost forgot!!!! Phew! sometimes it moves quickly.

They are making a door for the basement area. I say making because they guy who poured the foundation goofed!! I bet he would not have made the mistake on his own house.

Oh, the power lines were buried yesterday. That means that if we get our final inspection on Monday, we will have full power on Tuesday!!!

We still do not have gutters, and the many who was suppose to do it has not called back. I think I will have to look elsewhere…quickly.

The cable/internet saga…Charter Cable did not know if they served our house, since it is up the mountain a bit. I told them the Charter wire is on the pole. They sent someone out to evaluate the situation, but he could not find the house. They sent a second guy, but he could not find the house. They sent a third who said yes, but did not write it down. They sent the fourth guy last week who said no, they did not service that far. Heck, I think he did not find the house!  So, I called on Saturday to say I was holding the cable wire as we spoke…but the guy said I was not and that I should take the wire into the local office. I mentioned all the offers I am receiving at my new address from the cable company.  He said that did not mean anything. He asked if he could put me on hold, and then he never came back.  So we have to order Direct TV and a DSL line. People tell me I will like it better, and that may be the truth; however, I hate that I had to deal with stupid people who acted as if I was stupid too.

Sometimes it is difficult to concentrate on teaching when a house is being built.
