Phew! Whirlwind, but in a good way. For the longest time I fantasized about moving into the house, but now that it is close I am fantasizing about the first day I will be able to actually sleep past five or six o’clock!!!
We still hope to be living there by the 25th. It would be sooner, but that is now the day the electricity will be turned on. We has to have the eighth basement, we are calling it the mechanical room, finished to code. It cost us our front porch. Seriously, it cost what the front porch cost, so we now have steps up to the front door, and who knows when we will have an actual porch. The back deck is on hold until we move in.
The drywall is finished. I am going out as soon as it gets light to sweep up the drywall mess so that the man can come in and spray the primer. Then tomorrow morning I will go out and attempt to paint the upstairs rooms. I don’t have to worry about the floor, so I think it will go quickly. The upstairs gets carpeted on Tuesday.
Ann and her brother are going to get the cabinets up on Tuesday. Also we need to build railings, but have not figured out how or who.
Oh, gutters. We have to get gutters!
We are moving in without a lot done, but will do it as we go. We need interior window and door trim, but I think that should not be a difficult job. We will not have any counters, just the cheap one we bought to put the kitchen sink in (code). The downstairs will not have any flooring for a weeks or so or month or so, until we can get it done. The only door on the inside will be the bathroom door (code).
Our money has not held out as we had hoped, damn that Howard Franklin at Property Perfected for running off with what now equals front and back decks and flooring. Oh we ran into someone wearing a Property Perfected sweat shirt the other day in Lowes. Certainly we stopped him! He said his thought was that Howard had borrowed or loaned money to someone he should not have and showed up many times before he disappeared with black eyes and other injuries. I don’t know if we will ever know.
The carpet lady called our house a tree house. I love that description!
Hopefully photos tomorrow. The area around the house is so littered with bits and pieces of this and that I have not wanted to photograph it. But, now that the interior is looking good, I will take pictures.
