Well, for me it seems it was the chicken. Is there a book deal here anywhere; because, it is one thing after another.
Ann’s brother Larry is helping us…..I mean we are helping him….. put down the flooring. I made a wonderful, marinated, grilled chicken. With my first bite the chicken lodged in my throat. I could breathe, so I knew I did not need to call 911, but I could not get that sucker out of my throat. I tried everything, and the really bad thing was that I could not swallow even a drop of liquid. So, off to the emergency room to see what they could do. We arrived at 8;30, only to be told it was a five hour wait. I guess they were afraid I could stop breathing or the intake nurse really liked me, but I was in a room in an hour. Yep, they agreed I had a piece of chicken in my gullet. They called the gastro team, who is on call, and we had to wait until they arrived. Ann had been up since 3:30 and was falling asleep on her feet. I had to stand or I became very uncomfortable, so she laid down……and slept.
Hahaha, no kidding. The gastro doctor walked in around midnight and laughed. He asked which one was the patient. He said the gastro-nurse team was in the building and they would be there soon. He explained that they would knock me out and go get the chicken. They arrived, made Ann leave, and boom I was out. They sent me off with a few photos of my esophagus and an appointment to have it stretched.
I was going to make this photo of the stuck chicken my Christmas card, but I could not figure out how to give it a holiday theme.
Seems they do this procedure quite often. Stomach acid causes scar tissue, which then causes the esophagus to lose its expanding power. We got home around three, and believe it or not, I went to work. I thought I was ok, but when I got there I was a wreck. It was bonus check day, and I really wanted to get that ole check. I made it. I still have a wicked sore throat, but otherwise I feel fine.
Happy Thanksgiving. I hope to post tomorrow, but you never know what can get stuck in the meantime.

hahahahahahah Where is Susanna when I need her? That is sooo funny. Maybe one day I will attempt to share that story on the blog. I guess I should wait until 9/11 next year because it did happen in the World Trade Center.
I have been chewing and chewing and chewing.
