An unChristmassy tidbet

I promise a nice Christmas blog tomorrow, but for right now I have some news. The contractor that ran off with our money was arrested in Texas two months ago. He was held there until yesterday, when it made the local news that he had been brought back here, had a one hundred thousand dollar secured bond ( cash, no percentage), and will be going to trial on six felony counts.  Seems he was using someone’s identity when using the fake contractor’s license.  He also took a two hundred thousand dollar check from a man and did no work.  We have not signed criminal papers against him because we cannot. When we gave him our first check, he did do some of the work, so legally if we want to go after him it will have to be in civil court. How much do they make in prison?  I am thinking it is not worth our time. I am going to see if we can sue some in small claims court if they are in jail.  In small claims we could only go after him for five thousand, but when you consider what we would have to pay for a lawyer, five thousand does not sound so bad. We have to go to the police station this week to fill out some paperwork and will find out details then.
