Just some nice photos

We, okay mostly Ann, planted yesterday. She sure worked on her days off this week. Many of the plants are in.  I checked this morning and they are all still alive!!  The odd green stuff you will see on top of the dirt is flower roll  ( seeded pads).  It does not look so great right now, but boy oh boy, you just wait!!!

This is RD, who is fourteen years old. He is a dignified canine, and he just gets along with everyone. The spring is doing well for him, as he actually was able to jump up on the bed again yesterday. It had been a long time. We bought him some stairs for the bed, but he will not use them. Again, just too dignified.

I bought this at the grocery store. I think it is a Hibiscus. I thought I was buying an outdoor plant, but I think it might have to come inside in the winter.

This is Pippin. He has taken to being outside more than we could imagine. He runs up the road, sleeps in the sun, and owns the whole area. Anyone visiting would probably not see him, as he disappears when someone is here and then reappears the moment he or she leaves.

it’s hybiscus. Down here it’s a perenial…you can sort of train them into trees…and they bloom year round…that one needs a much bigger pot! If you have any kind of turtles or tortoises there they love the flowers.

pam, can it stay out in the winter or do we have to bring it in? No turtles here, but we have plenty of dead moles.

i don’t think dead moles eat flowers. I could be wrong though. Certainly i am no expert on dead moles.

it cannot stay out in the winter..the root system is too shallow. Put it in a pot you can drag into the house.

the good news is that they tend to be slow growing and easy to trim…shape it into a tree like thing..and prune it regularly…mine are four years old and only four to five feet tall..if they had to be potted they’d be fairly easy to move in in the winter…

Those dead moles are huge eaters. Why, just the other day someone ate up my angel food cake!

We found a pot for the plant/tree. I just may repot it today. I will be glad when this house if finished so I can sit down with a good book.
