I was just looking back to what I wrote a year ago on the blog.  One year ago yesterday we got our permit for a septic tank, our contractor had not flown the coop with our money, and we had ordered bathroom fixtures. It is so much of a blur to me. I am glad I did the blog so that I can go back and reread the process. So much has changed. I can honestly say it is turning out better than I had even fantasized. I do look forward to the time that I stand around not having anything to do.

I will read…..I want to read….I joined BookSwim.com where you pay a certain amount each month, and you can rent as many books as you want for that month. What I like about it is that I spend more than what they charge each month in the summer on books. They send them to me, I read them, and I send them back in their prepaid package.  It is very much like Netflix.

My next shipment will include the new Isabel Allende book, and later in the summer I will get the new Ron McLarty book. ( I just read that Memory of Running is going to be a film, and I want to buy my ticket now. I absolutely loved that book.)  I think I like listening to McLarty read his books as much as I like reading them.

School is school. This is the time of year I really run short of patience with fifteen year olds. Three weeks….I can last three more weeks.

I have this counter on my blog that tells me how many people come to read it. It tells me what server they use, what city they are in, and many things I don’t need to know. It does not tell me who they are or what their email address is.  So, sometimes I look and wonder how they heck these people found me.  I can tell if they came on a link from another blog, and some come from Becky or Maria’s.  Some have been coming from a google search…which is funny…on grass seed. One of my titles is “Planting grass seed in the rain,” and if you search grass seed, that comes up. So, people come over looking for advice and only get my rambles. Some stay for pages and pages, however.  I have someone reading from Whittier, NC. That is near Cherokee, but I have no idea who you are. I have picked blueberries in your town. Yesterday someone was here from Chile. He/she did not stay long. If wish more would leave comments.

Hot tub is up and running. It is coming near the point that we turn it down to be a cool, pool-like soak than a hot experience.  We are going out to Possum Manor West next Wednesday to be there when they put the fence up. We plan to spend a lot of time out there, and it is such a hassle because the dogs run off all the time. So, they will now be imprisoned….before you call the ASPCA note that the measurement for the fence is over 200 feet, and that is using the house as one side of it. So I guess that would average to about 65×65.  Plenty big.

It is tick time here at Possum Manor and all over the area. We put the tick stuff on the dogs last night, which is a job one must rest up for.  I think the medicine is alcohol based, and it has to be put in three or four spots on the dog’s back, from back of the neck to the butt.  RD is easy, he does not care.  Xena acts as if you are killing her, and when it is done she celebrates life as if she escaped from the dog catcher. Brando got his first dose of his short life time. We are still laughing.  I held him as Ann put on the stuff. He jumped each time like he was being given shocks.  He twisted and growled and bucked and we laughed.  He is the oddest dog I have ever met.  He is loving and hateful and a bully and a wimp all wrapped up into one ugly dog.

The porch SHOULD be finished this weekend. I have been saying that for weeks, but I am really hoping this is it. Ann needs to plant the shrubs but cannot until it is done. The carpenter had to take the gutters down to build the porch roof, so right now when it rains, it falls straight down onto the porch. It has rained a lot since last weekend and is suppose to rain today and tomorrow.  Saturday is suppose to be nice. Keep your fingers crossed.

Hey, let me know you were here.
