First, please do not get use to three posts in three days, but, schools are closed and will be again tomorrow due to the three inches of snow we received yesterday. Ok, my family and friends in Michigan have just fallen off their chairs….three inches? That is not enough for a snow plow to even go out in Michigan. We hope our Fourth of July parade has weather as nice as that!!! But, in the mountains, three inches is a lot. the roads not only go up and down, they lean sideways, which makes it easy for a bus or other vehicle to slide right down the mountain. It happened during a rains storm the first year I lived here.
First I have to put up this fantastic photo I took of a bird. I took it from the hot tub, which is a delight on a snowy day. This photo might just be one of my best.
Possum Manor was ready for the storm, lots of propane and diet coke. What we were not aware of was that the wind had blown the basement/crawl space door open, and the water froze. We turned on the heat strips and closed the door and the water was back in two hours.
Speaking of propane…..I call this one Propane and Pumpkins
The ever worried Xena kept track of me as I walked around and took photos this morning.
It was beautiful…and it was cold. It did not stop Pippin who hunted most of the morning and honored us with a mole. I did not photograph that.
We keep the birds fed, especially in the bad weather.
Inside, we all stayed warm and cozy. Some were warmer and cozier.
Brando has been on watch all day for that dog that has the nerve to walk on his property. He is our new sentry. He has a very difficult life!

i could get used to three posts in three days…seven in seven days, and so on…they’re the one of the things that make me smile…
gotta ask, though…do you really get your propane in those shorty grill bottles? I remember getting it in way bigger canisters when we used it in a house…
Grill propane canisters are 17 pound tanks, ours are 50 pounders. We had a dilemma . They will only deliver propane in amounts greater than 100 gallons (They also want a contract that you will buy so much a month.), which is one of those big white tanks. I do not know if we used one hundred gallons for the whole winter. We did not want it on that side of the house, but to put it on the back side of the house would have cost us a couple of hundred dollars in pipe. So, we found the 50 pound ones that we take and have refilled. They last a long time, and when empty are not too heavy. When filled we have to use a hand truck. We plan on building something around them by next winter.
To quote Pam “i could get used to three posts in three days…seven in seven days, and so on…they’re the one of the things that make me smile.” plus when you do multiple posts and your videos!! Loooooove your videos.
