A visit to Possum Manor West and extra stuff

The extra stuff first:  Possum Manor is looking good!!!!

I stopped on the way to Possum Manor West to take a picture at the view near the house.

The garden at the house is really coming along.  Carrie has a green thumb; it is obvious. Here are some of the things I have actually never seen grow before.

I thought broccoli came in those plastic bags with a big ole rubber band on it. (Oh, once my mom cut the stem off the broccoli, and a huge locust jumped out and into the sink. She screamed and ran into her bedroom. We stood around and watched our mom dance on the bed. It is one of those events I live to reenact. Ask me some time.

Here are peas. I am so excited with the peas. I really, really like peas.

We are growing grapes in hope of having enough to make muscadine (which is scuppernong) grape jelly.

The flowers are beautiful also. We have had so much rain, that everything is lush.

Here is Cecil, our rooster. I could watch him all day. Take note of the black and white chicken in the background and her plucked butt. Seem Cecil has a butt feather fetish.

This is one of the Beans. When they were babies I could tell them apart. We had Big Bean and Little Bean…get it…they are black beans….hahahahah Anyway, they are both grown now, so I cannot tell them apart. I just call them the Beans.

Ok, that is all for now. I have three days more of school, and then I have the summer to blog!!!

Yeah, videos and pictures, lol….I can’t wait to see you reinact your moms dancing on the bed from the locust, that must have been hysterical to watch as a kid, hahaha. The pics are beautiful as always and Cecils performance…..priceless.

    thank you, thank you!
Cecil is SO much better than scary bear!
Please have Ann hold the camera while you do the locust dance…
I know you don’t let her hold the camera very often, but i bet she could do a good job, and seeing the dance would be SO worth it…

(not to mention it would be awesome to see your dogs react to seeing THEIR mom hop around like that…)

it could become a video noir classic…

Wonder what Cecil would have done to the bear? He can be feisty!

Glad you two are happy. Oh, I am not putting that dance on tape. She did the same dance once in Florida when there was a palmetto bug in the kitchen. She did not like bugs at all. Just so you can get it in your mind, the dance involved bringing her knees up to her chin, one at a time. Repeat a thousand times. Oh there was screaming involved too. Usually my dad’s or my stepfather’s name. I am laughing now as I type.

Soak your fresh broccilo in cold, salt water. That should take all the bugs out. Bugs then go down the drain. Then wash good in cold water to remove the salt. This is something my Grandmother use to tell me to do. The one who lived behind us. Use this method with any member of the cabbage family.

  5. pam says:

Really…i can SEND you palmetto bug or two…

Please reconsider doing the dance on video…it seriously could be the video of a lifetime…

  6. admin says:

Good broccoli idea, Norma. I am going to try it when it gets big enough to pick.

I think I am saving the bug reenactment for guests. You have to visit to see it.

    hee hee hee

  7. Norma says:

I can picture your mother doing the “bug” dance. I remember the bedrooms in the house on Milburn. I would love to see you do the same dance.

  8. admin says:

Norma has a distinct advantage here. She can see my mom running through the kitchen, into the hallway, through the half bath, and into her room. hahahah I wonder if the people who live there would let me film it in the actual house.
