I am fighting a bout of insomnia. Every once in a while I get hit with this. It might be the sadness of Rd passing or who knows. I took two Motrin PM’s the other night and was up most of it. This too shall pass.
While in Michigan, we bought a lamp. I have decided since that this is something I can make, and I am going to make a floor lamp. The details have yet to be worked out, but maybe I have found a business. I wonder if rock/boulder lamps are in demand? This one is granite, but I will be working with creek rock, which is readily available. (I should have thought to turn the shade around.)
We have had a lot of rain this year, and not a lot of heat. This has made our ferns very happy. Usually by now, the ferns are becoming brown. This year they are lush.
I just realized that the bag of sweet potatoes I bought at the farmers’ market has taken on a life it its own.

sorry to hear about your insomnia. The lamp you bought is very pretty, I wish you luck in making and selling them.

i love the lamp. how are you planning to drill through all those rocks, though? I am not sure, but i actually think it is harder to drill through creek rocks than marble…something about the structure of it…
here, well, there aren’t a lot of native rocks, you ‘d have to do it with coral stone, which would be pretty, i think, and lighter than real “rock”.
Anyway, i am looking forward to seeing what you come up with….it really sounds like fun!
and consider trying melatonin (for the insomnia, NOT the lamps)

I love the lamp. Very pretty. I wonder how much it would cost to have the holes drilled as opposed to buying the machine to do it….if you sell them. They would be great to put on your Etsy.
Could you cut the sweet potatoes up and plant them?? I know there is a way to do this but I know not.

They are too heavy to sell and ship. My first will be a floor lamp. I need to find someone who would do the drilling. I went and asked at Lowes, and I think I would burn out a drill very quickly. I have such dreams.

Lamp is pretty. What about a landscape company to do the drilling? They have to cut rock and stone all the time. Or some one who does granite counter tops? If they can’t do it, then maybe then can recommend a tool so you can do it yourself.

I was told that you can cut the sweet potatoes and plant them. They need at least 2 eyes on them to plant. The stems you have now can count as a eye. One eye is for the root and the other one is for the plant to grow up above the ground. The same is true for white potatoes.
