Complete with deer whistles…..don’t know if they really work, but my stepfather use to always put them on my car. We were going to take Kno Knutz, but decided this car would have more room. I am glad we did.

We have had a long day.  We laughed a lot, as usual.  We wanted to leave for Michigan around 5 AM, because we were going to go over the mountain from Cherokee to Gatlinburg, and we wanted to see the scenery.  We were each up by 3AM, but still waited for five to leave.

The ride across the mountain was beautiful. We even saw a baby bear the size of a small dog run across the road.  When the sun came up, the view was awesome. The curves were sickening, literally.

Getting light…

Sunrise over Gatlinburg.

We had breakfast near Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge, TN. On the drive in the beginning of Kentucky, the clouds were really low, allowing the mountains to pop out, like they do in the Alps.  We got off the road and drove for a good photo spot.

We saw bear prints larger than the ones we have at home.

I like this next one a lot. I am entitling it “Three Sisters.”

We are really tired tonight. Tomorrow we are meeting friends for lunch, and then we are on our way towards the Ludington area. We hear from Carrie that the dogs are getting along. Phew!

  1. Cannot wait to hear about this new adventure! The photos were gorgeous, so keep them coming.

You know me and animals…was not a fan until we got our min pin, but I did find a lost dog 7/5 and Bruce and I got her back to her owners who really were on vacation and the people they left Holly with were nuts for 8 hours thinking they lost their friends’ dog. Holly tried to get off our deck and got caught between the slats on our gate and Bruce needed tools to get her “uncaught”. Truly a funny adventure…

  2. SAFE trip and those are beautiful pictures!!

  3. Beautiful pictures. They remind me of all the times we went to Nashville as a kid. You should try to stop at some of the caves in Kentucky. They are beautiful to go into. Drive safe and watch out for road construction in Michigan.
