Going to see the Elk

My friend from New Jersey, Sue, was here for a visit. We thought it would be fun to go see the the elk in the Cataloochee Valley near Asheville. The brochure said sighting was best early in the morning or later in the evening, so we got up really early and left before seven.

It was a pretty drive.  You take I40 W to exit 20; then it is a winding mountain, fear of falling of the edge, road.   We were excited, and I made sure I charged my camera batter and brought my zoom lens.

No elk here.

Have you seen the elk?  Gobble gobble gobble.

Beautiful brook but no elk.

Beautiful place with the light shining through the trees.  Really the whole area was beautiful.

Proof the elk were here.

Dang, we never saw an elk. We did talk to someone who saw two, so we know they were around. If we went any earlier, we would have to get there in the dark.

Thanks so much for the postcard of the mountains and the Cherokee Indian Reservation! North Carolina is such a beautiful state!

I hope you visit Kansas soon!

How do I know the elk did it? Well I didn’t do it, so it must be the elk.
