Oh it’s a farmer’s life for me!

Western North Carolina’s rain forest is returning. Seriously, it has rained for months now. We have a nice, sunny day every now and then, but mostly rain. We had been in a serious drought for the past few years, and I was told that if we did not get enough rain this year, the forest would begin to change forever. Ok, so the rain is good, but not good is the slimy back deck, the unused hot tub, the wet chickens living in mud, or the spongy yard and drive way. Thank heavens we each have great rain jackets.

Chicken water changing attire:pink rubber garden shoes, blue boxers and white for a moment  t-shirt, and raincoat. Those chickens dirty up their water so quickly.  I have covered part of the coop, just to give the chickens some place other than the house to stay somewhat dry.

The prize? An itty bitty egg. Should have been two, so I guess I need to squeeze those chickens again!

I really could not be happier..unless it was snowing!

    Kathie,
The fair looked like fun. Next year you can enter jars of tomato pesto sauce! I’m sure you didn’t see that on any of the tables.
I am very impressed with your chicken coup…loved the solitary egg.
    I’m sure more will follow.
