Part One:  Ann is home today sick. She has a virus that makes her dizzy and cannot drive. So I am driving her to breakfast and a movie. The soup will have to wait for this afternoon, along with the story of the FIXED FREEZER!!!  But so that you have something to see when you come to the site, I am putting up a very funny YouTube video that I stole from Justin.  Thanks Justin.

PS. It is not raining. It is chilly this morning and sunny.

Part Two:

We went to see “Inglorious Basterds” (spelled as it is) today. We both really liked it. We came home and I made soup, because it is Sunday. I made the Chicken Tortilla soup, which is always good. Then I made a batch of Potato Beet. It was really pretty.

It is good too, in an odd way. It reminds me of the borscht I use to get at my favorite Polish restaurant in New York City.  Ann has no interest in it, so I froze it in individual portions.

I took a beautiful photo of Xena. Ann thinks she is the most beautiful dog. The vet thinks she is part coyote. She was feral and found with her litter in a barn after their wild mother had been hit by a car. So who knows.\

We have a broody hen, which means she is sitting on an egg, determined to hatch it.  I have marked it, so that I can take the others out each day, but can leave that one for her.  If it works, we should have a baby to name in three weeks. Now you have to see me get the other eggs from under her. She pecks at me and will not move. So, now I put on an oven mitt and just put my hand under her. All is well.

And the weather has finally changed. It is cool, and we got into the hot tub. It has rained so much that we have not used it for weeks.

  1. OMG!!! I can’t believe how stupid that cop was? What an idiot and he deserved to lose his job! Just goes to show who’s protecting the public.

  2. I remember this story. He should know better being a cop. I think they both should have gotten some jail time. IF it were you or I, we should get it. Maybe it was payback for what he was doing.

  3. I’m speechless at the stupidity!!

  4. well, i think we should be outraged. This dude was taking marijuana away from “subjects” and keeping it for his own use. Under any rational system of law that’s theft.

and it’s worse than simple theft because someone gave this dude a uniform and a badge and a freakin gun, and let him go out in an official capacity to commit theft.

THEN he violates drug laws, both in terms of possession and use of illegal substances.

i think he NEEDS to go to jail. I think it’s time we tell the dudes in uniforms with badges and guns that they can’t do whatever they want and feel safe about it.

so, yeah, i am all for outrage- not that he could be so stupid- anyone can be stupid when they’re high. But outraged that the powers that be would allow him to go unpunished. Outraged that this whole event sends the message that the people we are supporting via taxes to maintain our safety cannot be relied on to do that.

  5. His stupidity is funny. If you go to Youtube you can find the whole 911 call. I was surprised he was allowed to just quit, rather than be prosecuted. Maybe showing his for the ass he was was punishment for him.

  6. the soup looks yummy, yeah for the video, you can see the steam on it and i’m jealous your in the hot tub…..ENJOY!! =)

  7. I CAN NOT BELIEVE HOW MUCH YOU COOK
