I think I am done with soup. I cannot find any new recipes I want to make. I am leaning toward a nice corn chowder in the future, but not the near future. I made a taco soup, but I thought it was too spicey so, I will not even be putting it up here. I also made apple bread that failed. Oh me oh my.
I am thinking of Bread Sunday, but I hate to commit, as we have so much going on right now.
What I did do is finish my first commissioned rug. It is as ugly as can be, only because of the colors the woman chose. It is for her toddler’s room. I think it is an expensive rug to put in a room where it will be barfed and pooped on, but she paid well. She sent me photos of her kid’s plastic furniture and blanket. This is will fit in perfectly. Please do not judge my rugs by her colors. This one is four feet across.
Now that the Halloween lights are in place, I can think of other projects. I really need to get going on the coop before the weather gets cold. The one they are in would be ok, but I want them to have more room.
Pippin decided that being inside was better than out this weekend. Have no idea why. The cats come and go as they please, having taught themselves the art of going in and out the dog door. Usually, they come in to eat, and that is it. That is, until it gets cold; then they find their spots near the fire place or on top of the dryer or where ever. He is the sweetest cat ever. And he has the longest tail ever.

I LOVE the colors of the rug, but of course, they might photograph wrong. But they look nice and bright and fun. What are the real colors like?
I feel like Pippin….would like to curl up on the sofa near the fire.

The top photo is most accurate. They are just too bright for me, who loves earth tones.

Now a days, people are using bright colors in kids rooms. Both my daughters used bright greens, yellows, jungle colors in the nurseries.
They say that is the way.
Pippin has the right idea. It is cold here in Michigan. A fire sounds so nice.

i am with Kathie here on the colors. I wouldn’t object to any of the colors in that rug separately, but together the effect seems jarring and annoying. Well, and i really don’t like the blue. While I hope the kid is very happy with the rug, I wouldn’t want to live with it. However, you can tell from the more detailed shot how much your skills have improved since the very first rug, yeah? The craftsmanship is awesome.
I get why the mother wants the colors, they’re obviously stimulating and very happy. At this stage in my personal life though, i am just too damn old to really enjoy that kind of stimulation.
It is 80+ degrees here. I think it is always 80+ degrees here. Y’all can feel free to come curl up on the back of my sofa.

Kathie, Sorry to read about your cat. Is it still raining there? Your halloween lights look very nice. Whats a city girl like you doing raising chickens? Possum Manor looks to be one interesting place. Everything is good here. I’m in Alabama right now just for the week. Will be heading home on or about Thursday. Sucks to have to leave so soon but I have to go. Hope everything is well with you. Sharon H.

Hey Sharon. Welcome!
Pam does it ever get cold enough for a sweatshirt or flannel?
Rug will be mailed tomorrow, and then I can start on my Christmas ones. Pam, you have one coming some time this winter, but not before Christmas, no way in hell.
Chicken is still on the egg. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Looking at the rug… Is there anything you can’t do????? You shared it cost the woman alot of money, well, there goes my idea of having you make one for me ;). By chance do you do sweaters that can be made tight and warm for upstate WA cold, wintery weather?
My sister was a huge fan of corn chowder, she made it wonderful. My nephew the same… I made it once, wow, it is some rich stuff, but wonderful. Haven’t had it in years. I think no one makes it these days due to the richness of it, oh but, we sill love our rich chocolate. Won’t give that up!
So what about the winter and the chickens, the snow and the chickens, do you put a warming light inside their house? I will ask more about chickens when I can wrap my head around, wanting to know more about them ;).
I was in Cuba for a year, and loved loved loved the weather. During the winter months, I wore shorts and a sweat shirt at night. Nights during the winter were about 80 degrees. Brrrrrrrrrrrr cold.

Sure, i own a couple of hoodies. Actually the littlest dog and i have matching hoodies. I think it actually depends on who is wearing them, though. Our air conditioner is set at 74 degrees, and there are maybe a couple days a year it doesn’t run at some point during the day. It can certainly get cooler at night…all the way down into the fifties usually. Patti says it snowed in Miami once, but that was like thirty years ago.
Wow..i get a rug? Now that they are truly art instead of chair covers that’s way cool. both i, and my dogs (who will no doubt treat it as badly as a toddler) already are thanking you.
Have faith, Garbanzo will one day emerge from the egg. Maybe not this egg, or the next egg, but in the end Garbanzo will triumph.

You will both get rug, 30″ round kitchen sink rugs. After Christmas….no time before. I will work out colors with you later. Please no yellow, green and blue.

That is way too funny pam. Trust me, if we were in florida and it was so hot, we could complain about that as well… Yet, NC has yucky winters, rain and wind, rain and wind, daily… Of course Possom Manor certainly gets the snow, where I am, its a hit and a miss.

Kathie you did a wonderful job on the rug and i’m sure it will look wonderful in the toddler’s room. But I do agree with you about the colors, I like earth tones also, but I’m sure this rug will match the toddler’s room perfectly and if the mom sends pictures please post them, thanks.

Thinking of you today and hoping all goes well.
