Next week at this time….

..Thanksgiving will be over

..I will probably be five pounds heavier

..I will be thinking of decorations for Christmas

..I will be thinking of gifts for Christmas…for me  lol

..I will have a new phone

..if it is still raining I might have to have a complete tantrum

..the chickens will probably NOT be in their new coop….

We made some progress yesterday, but we did not finish.  I am so frustrated because it is so much more work than I ever planned.  We are finished with one side and the top with the screen. We have one more side, the back and one triangular piece on the other side.  We have everything to make the boxes, and If it will not rain for a few days, we might be able to do it by the end of next weekend.

I just realized my underwear is still on the fence. I am going out this minute to get it.
****
They are now in the laundry.

I cannot wait to show the completed coop; you have no idea. But what will I get myself into next?
I have some grape jelly to make before Christmas, along with a few rugs. Oh my.

The coop looks great. The chicks will have some good views from their new home and I laughed hysterically when I read that the underwear was still on the fence outback. HAHAHAHAHA :)

  2. pam says:

yeah, i agree, the coop looks great. And in the years to come you’ll look at it and feel all proud and stuff that you did it. That said, i am not sure i get why it is taking so long to get the screening up? You are using a staple gun, aren’t you? I mean i get it that the screen is inside and that produces some weird angles…but still…

Thank you for chicken videos…i am sure you think that just unending minutes of chicken videos would be boring, but they are not. Most of us will never have chickens of our own to watch…i mean it’d be illegal for me to have chickens here, and i actually know that because one of my neighbors tried…so i could happily watch them on video a LOT…

my one question about the coop is if you really want to have it that close to where Ann burns trash?

so i am curious…with black friday coming up and all everyone should be thinking about christmas presents, right? I mean personally i am looking at this little camcorder that i think might be fun…which, yeah, is electronic and really weird for me…but still…

and Kathie and Ann are getting oranges, of course…perhaps not exactly in time for christmas..and of course there’s no surprise there…but yeah, i am curious about what kinds of things people want for christmas…

I hope Ann reads this an posts because I have no clue what so ever to get her.

Ann’s burn center is going to be moved to the other side of the yard. We did not want the chickens to think we were planning a barbecue.

What do I want for Christmas? I have no idea. Ann says she has gotten me a few things already, but I have not found them. And yes, I have looked.

I wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer, but my sister had an extra so she sent it to me. That reminds me, I need to send her a check for the shipping. I said a Wii, but I would not use it. I am getting a new phone on Wednesday, so I will not need that. Oh, I did ask for some new measuring cups, the liquid ones. I do not want glass, but a few new plastic ones. Isn’t that pathetic?

Maybe I was suppose to say I wanted peace on earth. lol

I won’t get my big gift until February….A Kindle!!! I have wanted one since they came out but waiting until at least 2nd generation. With Kindle edition books being only $10…it will pay for itself within a year (at least for me it will). LMAO
I am also getting an iPhone in March. I am eligible for an upgrade come March and the cost won’t be any higher than with any other new phone….so the only added expense for the iPhone will be the $10 a month extra for unlimited data. :-)

You might like a Kindle, Kathie. :-)

  5. admin says:

Oh great idea, send me a photo of the coconut cake next time you make it. I heard you and your family will not be at Thanksgiving, and I am bringing pumpkin pie, so there is no hope of it then.

Ann has always said I should get a Kindle, but I don’t know. I will await your opinion. The screen is larger now, as is the price. I will be interested if 1. The print is large enough 2. If it is as much fun to read when you are not holding a book. I am thinking both answers are yes.

As for the the Iphone. I would kill for it, but Verizon is the only service that is good here and at PMW, and Verizon does not have the Iphone. I am getting the Storm2 Wednesday, which is as close as it comes to the Iphone. Verizon’s computer add on for the phones is 30 a month.

Wonder if the Kindle will ever do MP3..what a great combination that would be.

  6. Becky says:

Ummm….No one told me anything about Thanksgiving. Dad mentioned something a month or so ago about the Saturday after Thanksgiving but at that time nothing was definite. Whatever. Thanksgiving afternoon/evening we are going over to a friends house for Thanksgiving so I am taking my Potato casserole, Sweet Potato Soufflé and the Coconut Cake. Saturday, Justin will have to work and I am without a car at the moment.

The Kindle has 2 sizes (and 2 prices). The smaller Kindle 2 (8″ x 5.3″ x 0.36″) at 259.00 and the Kindle DS at 489.00 (10.4″ x 7.2″ x 0.38″) which is the size of a magazine. One of the things I like most about the Kindle (besides hundreds of thousands of books for $10 or less) is the screen. “Paper-Like Display: Reads like real paper without glare, even in bright sunlight”. I am getting the regular Kindle 2…not the DS. The thing will hold 1500 books!!

I only want the iPhone for all the apps. LMAO Well and the internet. :-) Isn’t Verizon coming out with something very similar to iPhone….Droid???

  7. admin says:

It is on Thursday, and he said you were going to friends’. Anyway, as long as there is no potato candy involved.

Becky also makes potato candy. Oh my gosh…sounds odd, but it is delicious.

The Droid is a phone that gets internet. The Blackberry is a computer phone…that is how it was explained to me. I did not realize the new Kindle was the size of a magazine. I would not like that large one either. Do you know anyone who has one?

  8. Becky says:

I don’t know anyone who has one. No one I know reads as much as I do. LMAO One of my friends will be getting hers about the same time I get mine so we will get to experience it together. LOL

:-) I am not really sure that I even made Potato Candy last year. I can’t remember. I know I made the Cranberry Chocolate Biscotti but I don’t rememeber making anything else. HAHA

  9. pam says:

okay, i read as much as you do. It is too bad you don’t really know me. I am basically adorable.

I just cannot get past the fact that the Kindle doesn’t FEEL like a book. It feels like a video game and i kind of get upset when Mario doesn’t jump out of hiding to play with me.

So i really need more christmas input here. While i have finally trained Patti that christmas stockings and easter baskets are religious imperatives for those of us who are NOT Jewish, she has equally trained me that Channukah has EIGHT, count them, eight days in which she fully expects to have presents.

  10. jan says:

I just don’t know about that Kindle. I get all my books from the library for free (except for the huge taxes we pay) and any others I buy with a 40% off coupon at Borders. So the thought of having to pay $10 bucks per book is pretty bad. Plus if the book’s really good, how do you loan it to someone else? Also, if you lose the Kindle,(or it gets stolen), you are out every book you downloaded and the $300 for the Kindle.

The coop looks great! Why do you screen it from the inside? Isn’t it easier to wrap and staple the screen on the outside? Sorry but I’m a city gal who hasn’t a clue about chickens or a coop.

  11. admin says:

Wow, the great Kindle debate. I plan to see about reading them from the Blackberry too. I think Becky and I are gadget queens, so the Kindle appeals to us because it is a gadget. Just like cell phones that do everything but bake bread…we don’t NEED one, but we WANT one because it is a gadget. It does not matter that it might get lost with lots of books on it. It is electronic and for that reason it is a must.

Ok Pam…ideas for Patti. I love my Flip Video, but she does not blog.
Hmmmm…Buy her some of those disposable fountain pens at Staples. I love them. Four different colors. You could make her grape jelly. I would walk you through it. Yogurt maker? I have one and used it once.
I will think on it and get back to you in the morning.

The support of the coop is on the outside, so the only flat areas to put on the screen are inside. It looks better that way too, which is really important to the chickens and to Ann. lol

  12. pam says:

From a practical standpoint you want the wire on the inside of the coop because the chickens are inside potentially pushing OUT and you get sort of better resistance and less stress on the staples that way.
And yeah, i get it that they aren’t exactly struggling to get out, but every time a chicken bumps into the wire with any degree of force it would stress a staple, and over months if the staples were on the outside they’d eventually start working loose. Putting the staples on the inside prevents that simply by changing the direction of the stress.

No amount of talking is going to get me to attempt jelly. I do not measure well. And i don’t have good sense. I tried to make wine once when i was little. My mother found me stomping on elderberries in the bathtub. Took forever to get those damn stains out. I don’t think i have tried doing a thing with berries of any kind since.

  13. Becky says:

I don’t think I would lose my Kindle…I never go anywhere.(Luckily we have the 3G coverage for the Kindle here at home) LMAO
I think I would prefer to read a book from the Kindle rather than a real book. I HATE new books. I love to read them but I hate that they are so stiff….but I don’t want to break the spine. It’s the ultimate struggle for me…and the Kindle solves it. HAHAHA :-) And with a new release at Barnes and Noble being as much as $25 ($16 on Amazon)…$10 is pretty good. The amount of money I have given to Amazon.com over the years should get me a free Kindle, I think! LOL Oh…And I read that I can download all the books I bought from Amazon previously, into my Kindle for free. YAY It’s the ultimate struggle for me…and the Kindle solves it. HAHAHA :-)
I do love the gadgets. The more bells and whistles it has, the more I want it! :-)

  14. Dianna says:

Pam, this is just too funny!! LOL :)

“While i have finally trained Patti that christmas stockings and easter baskets are religious imperatives for those of us who are NOT Jewish, she has equally trained me that Channukah has EIGHT, count them, eight days in which she fully expects to have presents.”

  15. Dianna says:

So, Kathie, just wondering are the rugs your going to be making presents for friends?

How is Bernice coming along? Her blog is lonely. :)

  16. pam says:

okay, one last suggesdtion for the coop name…..
    how about the “pollo club”?

  17. Norma says:

My cousin has a Kindle and loves it. She carries it in her purse. She says it is easier then carrying a book around. She loves to read. The one she has is a little larger then her blackberry. Chips (the books) for it cost around $10.00 each.

  18. Dianna says:

Wishing you and Ann a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

    Love to both of you!
    Dianna
