It was raw today, cold and damp. I worked on my coop, and will have a video at the bottom of the blog. I have all the sides done, and my friendly down hill neighbor is going to help me this week with the angles of the door. After that it is just putting the sides together and putting on the screening. Oh we need to build the actual house too. We think we are going to have it raised, and keep the food and water under. I have to find out if the chickens are smart enough to climb the ladder to the house.I need to finish so that I can sell the old coop, and then begin all my Christmas projects.
The trees are almost bare, which I find depressing. Fall is so beautiful. In the winter we have what the real estate agents call “winter views.” See the mountain? This was taken from the back deck.
Looks as if we are in a cage doesn’t it? I don’t know why it looks that way. It must be the trees against the wires.
There is a competition going on for the sofa. The dogs will not jump up if there is a cat there already. The cats will jump up even if both dogs are there. I don’t know who was there first, but neither was going to give up position. By the way, that is a throw on the sofa, not the upholstery. We need to protect the sofa some how.
Now for your feature presentation…..

I love your videos! They’re great!!
It was cold and damp here all day but we went down Possum Manor West way and it was clear blue skies and warm.
Pictures of our day trip are up on my facebook and I tagged Ann in one of them because of people who said they knew her.
So, let her know to check it out.
Love the orange lights and snuggle little sprout for me if you can get a hold of her.

I can NOT believe you are going to sell that coop after all the trouble you had getting that guy to make and deliver it. There must have been 10 blogs just of his excuses…..lol. Ah memories.
Your fall views are lovely….I’m sure winter views are nice too.

Great pictures Becky. I comment on one I think wins the prize! Lots of driving for one day; I am betting about 300 miles.

That dog is a beautiful dog. So I take it, the cats do not try to eat the chickens?
It was yucky here as well, wet, chilly, typical NC winter coming up.
As long as food, water and heat is available, I would not mind getting stuck in Little Switzerland for a week…

Oh, the cats annoy the chickens daily. The will go near the coop, and the chickens go nuts. I am sure if they were free range, we would have a problem, but right now they are safe.
I think even our chickens are spoiled.

it’s 85 degrees here. I think it is always 85 degrees here.
We do not have fall, so i am eternally grateful for yours.
Unfortunately my aging eyes were not quick enough to make out Sprout in an otherwise very entertaining video. Please make more, keeping in mind that i am seeing slower these days. Many more, because at my age the mind needs repetition to stay focused.
and yup, Kathie, you and i in the same place would be trouble, but damn it would be fun.
oh! and just out of curiosity, couldn’t the chickens have a simple ramp so they do not have to learn ladders?

Which one did you comment on? I can’t find it.
You are probably right about the mileage…Franklin to Stecoah to Fontana and back to Franklin and then all the little roads we took all over the place. It was great fun.
How are you gonna get the chickens from the old coop to the new one?

Cute video of the chicks and eating oatmeal in the hot tub sounds delightful!!

Yes I think the chickens are spoiled as well… As you were filming, one came up from the back, almost like, “don’t forget me, I’m here”
Pam, I think I could do 85 with clear skys today…

I will make a ramp,I just called it a ladder for some reason. As for getting the chickens into the new place….I have lost sleep over that exact questions. Honestly, I do not know.
