Odds and ends…..

* I cannot believe my five day vacation is about over. I really do not want to go back to work tomorrow. Ann is returning to work on Friday. She is doing three days this week and next, and then she will go full time.

* Things are a lot more expensive this year, but I bet I do not have to tell you that.

* I had this great idea that I was going to make marshmallows for Christmas this year instead of cookies. I bought a book that shows how to make all sorts of them, in all sorts of flavors. There are ones you let melt in your tea, chocolate ones to melt in your hot cocoa, and lots of Christmasy peppermint flavored ones ( some dipped in chocolate.) So I made plain vanilla ones last night. First of all one batch of plain marshmallows cost about five dollars in ingredients. Second of all, it takes a very long time and is very messy. They had to sit all night, and then the top of so hard I had to cut it off. I rolled them coating with a faint hint of lime.

This is the loaf you get, and you cut your squares or whatever shape you wish.

You coat them and put them in something to store. I stopped with only these finished. Becky mentioned that the vanilla I made was strong.  It is as pure as you get, but it is so strong in these things that I do not like them. I am thinking  that I might try one more flavor, maybe peppermint, but if they are not a whole lot better than these, my days of being a marshmallow barista are over.  Way too much work for the final product.

* Ann was sitting at her computer last night laughing at YouTube videos of cats and dogs. She suggested I put this one up because it is so cute, and it is.

* I am making our turkey today, and our friend Tena is coming over. We are going to play Scrabble, and I am going to kick my ass kicked. I am pretty good, but Tena knows all these two letter words. Yep, I see an ass kicking in the horizon.

* The coop is not done. It has not been touched in days. I keep saying, maybe next weekend…maybe next weekend.

* I was thinking, anyone want to be a guest blogger in the month of December?  You send me the stuff and I will post. Photos/whatever. Keep in sort of G rated, as my niece does read this sometimes, and I have always tried to keep it so she could.

* I blogged four times in the last five days. Don’t get use to it. lol

* I am not a religious person at all, but I LOVE Christmas music and can sing along to almost anything.

Now go deck those halls y’all.

the marshmellow things look like tons of hard difficult work. yes I have gotten way use to seeing something written from u daily. Is that Diet Rite Cola I see in the picture? Eeeeeeeeeeek I could never stand that soda. Anyone rememeber fresca? Nasty tasting stuff. My mother was diabetic, so she drank it, when it first came out, can u imagine how long ago that was. Now the Walmart brand to me is pretty close to coke.
Yes things are way expensive. I have usually long done my shopping by sept/oct by the latest. The last two years that has not been the case. I would perfer everyone in my family just send money to hospice home instead of exchanging gifts. But I am but one person.
Love the kitty video, thanks Anne.
Hows the baby chicken… I miss seeing the chickens.

Yes, there is Diet Rite in the photo…haha. I usually drink Sprite free, but once in a while I want Diet Rite. I hated Fresca, but I have a friend who still drinks it every day. It is available in the Detroit area, but I do not know about here in NC.

Chickens were making a big ruckus this morning, and when I went out Butter Bean and one of the Black Beans were fighting. The rooster got in the middle of them and tried to stop it. I went out to scold them, and they both looked at me like I was nuts. Black Bean had a buff feather sticking out of her mouth too. I threw in some scratch, and they immediately forgot they were mad at each other.

Those marshmellows sound yummy, too bad it’s their too hard to make.

I have definitely gotten used to you blogging every day, lol, but I will try and handle the withdrawals I will be getting. HAHAHAHA

    Loved Ann’s cat video, hysterical!

Maybe I’ll come up with something to be a guest blogger here but I know it won’t be as funny as Pam’s. :P

The vanilla is a teeny bit strong but not too bad. It is really really good!! I have watched marshmallow making on The Food Network and it looked like way to much work for me. I think you have discovered why the gourmet chocolate covered marshmallows are so expensive! LOL

Not that I am a health nut or anything (far from it) but I try very hard not to drink a lot of sodas, very caustic stuff and I never drink diet sodas…the aspartame is some seriously nasty stuff and not too good for you either. My favorite soda is Cheerwine but I don’t drink it often. (And High Fructose Corn Syrup is evil)

Love the kitty video…I will be stealing it and posting it to my Facebook! :-)

ah, Dianna, you give me way too much credit…although i DO think doing a guest blog might be fun….i am certainly going to give ti some thought…the trouble is that while i have this little digital nikon that shoots videos i cannot figure out how to get them OUT of the camera in a way that works in any other format…not to mention that i do not think poodles would be as interesting as chickens anyway…

the marshmallows…well…that’s a lot of mess…and i honestly like cookies way better…but i admire your courage.

  6. gena says:

I was thinking of Pam being the guest blogger as well.. We have all gotten addicted to something being written daily…
I will say this, I have done far more dangerous things in my life than drink diet coke, and so far survived those. My smoking for 20 years was most unhealthy and toxic. And a partner or two ended up being pretty crazy, so diet soda does not frighten me….

All could be guest bloggers. I think it would be fun. I hope to take some photos of our decorations and put them up. They never look as good in a picture.

It is 5:39AM, and I do not want to go back to work. Three weeks until Christmas vacation. I think I can….I think I can…I think I can.

  8. gena says:

I have to decline being a guest blogger. I would upset everyone with my way far left political statements, and u would get bored with my Free Tibet, not even mentioning my thoughts with wondering if Tiger Woods really wrecked because he was on his way to run over Jon’s foot, from Jon and Kate Plus 8. Regardless how the world turns, I miss Kate plus 8.

  9. Becky says:

I don’t think you would want me as a guest blogger. All I could write about (and have pictures for) would be my crocheting and My little doggie, Barney. But, if that appeals to you, I will try. :-)

  10. pam says:

Becky, i say go for it….
i haven’t ever learned to crochet, since i have never decided whether i am right or left handed noone has been able to figure out how to teach me, but i think it’s way cool. And i, for one love little dogs. And besides, it’s YOU who comes up with all the awesome facts and figures and stuff…so i think you have plenty to say.

Actually i think Gena is pretty interesting too…and of course Tiger lives fairly close to me…

  11. Dianna says:

I think it would be a lot of fun if all of us could blog. After all as Pam mentioned Becky knows many facts that are interesting and I learn from her. Pam just cracks me up and you do to Gena, in fact your latest post had me hysterical. Pam I would LOVE to see one of your poodles dressed up with a sun bonnet or whatever outfit you have for them. lol :)

C’mon people we can do this: as Kathie said I know I can, I know I can I know I can. ;-)

  12. admin says:

Ok, I am excited. Dianna sent me a blog, and I will post it in a minute. Pam, I could put up your dog Animoto. Becky, we would love to read about your yarn work. I will even put up photos. Gena, I am sure you can think of something.
