Oh yes, they are both pyromaniacs…..
This video was taken in December 2006. For Christmas that year I bought Ann a three hundred dollar fire pit, complete with granite top. My friend Tena and I had to roll it down the street because it was too heavy to carry. We used it one time, and I am so glad I got a video of it. Ann now uses it as a burn bin. Honest.
This has been a weird week for many reasons; one of them being a mouse committed suicide in our down stairs bathroom. That or he thought the toilet was a swimming pool, and he did not know how to swim.
Xena has learned to play. She is seven years old and is just now finding it is fun to romp. She is such a serious dog.
I am hoping the chicken coop will be near done this weekend. Saturday is suppose to be a nice day, but Sunday it is suppose to rain. If we get the screening done on Saturday, and finish all the support stuff, we can always build the house part on the front porch if it rains on Sunday.
What all of your favorite part of the Thanksgiving dinner? Mine is the stuffing and the pumpkin pie. I think I could even mix it together.

if you presoak a log with coleman fuel you can get like a 30 foot flame. Just sayin.
thank you, by the way for a new blog!
my favorite part of thanksgiving dinner is…you’ll laugh…getting on the table. I mean there’s this sense of satisfaction in making sure everything is finished at like the same time, and it’s all hot, and i didn’t dry the turkey out, and you know…it’s complicated and there’s a sense of just pure pleasure at making it work out…
as far as eating it…i love the stuffing too. Not big on pumpkin pie. And i like turkey. And baked yams with gravy…not candied yams, just plain old baked ones.
okay, and i have to ask. So you had a kamikaze mouse in the toilet…did you give it the old fashioned burial at sea or did you make Ann fish it out? Wait…no, i have so many more questions. Oh, you should see how fast my brain is spinning now with mouse questions…i mean i have all these potential mental pictures going…like you staggered out of bed first thing in the morning, actually USED the toilet and then discovered the mouse when you got up…or you stumbled in, SAW the mouse first, and discovered you didn’t need the toilet after all…or…you know…
overall i am going to need more details simply to stop the madness in my head. Right now all the voices in there are shouting out alternative theories about the discovery and ultimate removal of it. And they’re laughing their collective asses off.

Poor little mousey. Maybe one of your animals scared it to death? Like it climbed up on the toilet and had a heart attack from Zena’s barking and fell in? With your luck, if you tried to flush him he probably clogged your pipe. lol
Favorite part of Thanksgiving is when I am finished cooking, carving and cleaning. Favorite eating part is the stuffing, yams and yes, I LOVE pumpkin pie.

P.S. Did you all know that Kathie is having Ann paint the coop, boring green? You would think with Ann’s love of all thing hippie, the coop would have psychedelic colors? Poor chickens will have no stimulation.

Well, we have two bathrooms. The mouse was downstairs in the bathroom that is connected to the guest room. I don’t use that very often, so I had gone to work when I got the following text message, “There is a mouse in the downstairs toilet.” For once, I was glad to be at work. When I came home, I asked her if she had flushed it and she said no, she was afraid it would clog the pipes. I did not ask, nor do I want to know, how she got that thing out. I especially do not want to know what she used to do it. Ick.
And yes, the coop is going to be painted green, to match the nature around it. Actually, it is a vivid green, but it is going to have to wait until spring when the wood cures. We may be mountain folk now, but are classy mountain folk.

okay, so there is no great story here involving Kathie screaming. I have to admit that on some levels that is disappointing. If Ann screamed i do now want to know. That would somehow destroy my illusion.
Green is a great color for the coop. It’ll make little Butter Bean really stand out. and it won’t clash with the others.

The mouse came in from the rain. When it rains so long, and so hard, mice find their way to come inside a warm home. See where I am going with this paradox.
I love fire pits, I purchased one last winter, used it couple of times then gave it away. I made the mistake of buying one made of terracotti, although very pretty yes, but practical no, they can break easily. So my boss’s mother is enjoying it at her beach place.
My nephew has one in the back, his was home made by his dad. It is 6 feet tall, holds tons of wood. So my nephew will hope his back screen door, put tons of wood in it, and it heats up part of his two story house as well. He also loves fire.

Fires are definitely zen like, I too LOVE them.
My favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is the stuffing and the pumpkin pie and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my mom’s homemade Apple pie.

oh, yeah fires are zen like…
it’s just that i like really BIG zen
in fact twice in my life the fire department has arrived to put out my charcoal grill. I don’t understand why my neighbors had such issues with a little starter fluid.

Pyromania must run in the family because I love fire too.
I like green for the coop…will match the surroundings once Spring returns.
My favorite part of Thansgiving is after everyone is stuffed to the gills I get to partake of my annual tradition: Miracle on 34th Street!
My favorite Thanksgiving food/s: Turkey and cornbread dressing!!! My favorite memory of Thanksgiving: Each and every single year Grandma would make sure there was jellied cranberry sauce for me and her. Not the homemade stuff but the canned Ocean Spray stuff. I believe she and I were the only ones who touched the stuff. And any that was left over she made sure to send home with me. LMAO Oh, and her Coconut cake. That tradition has been ceremoniously passed to me because I am the only one who knows how to make it and this year close friends get to partake of it’s wonderful marshmallowiness!

Oh were we suppose to share our favorite thing about Thanksgiving. For me, The Macy’s Day Parade…
November 21st, 2009 at 8:42 pm
I like to watch the parade too. And I want to announce that if any of you ever get to meet Becky, make sure she makes you a coconut cake. It is the best.
I am uploading videos for the blog. We did not finish the coop. We worked all day, but still did not finish. I am beginning to wonder if it will ever be finished.
November 21st, 2009 at 8:59 pm
Thanks Kathie. I really enjoy making it. Although, I am still trying to work out an acceptable technique for applying the coconut without getting it onto every single surface in my kitchen. LMAO

I too forgot about the parade, love to watch it with the kids.
Becky, your coconut pie sounds delicious, might have to get the recipe.
November 22nd, 2009 at 11:30 am
Oh Dianna…if she gave you the recipe she would have to kill you. It is a secret that we thought was buried with Ann’s mom. However, I think I found part of a recipe, and Becky being the cook she is figured out the rest. Oh my it is heavenly.
Maybe she will take a picture of it the next time she makes it. It is soooooooo good.
November 22nd, 2009 at 11:45 am
lol, ok, now I REALLY want to taste this deliciously yummy cake.
ok, Becky, PLEASE take a picture and if I’m aloud to have the recipe that would be great. THANKS.
November 22nd, 2009 at 11:48 am
If I’m not allowed to have the recipe that’s ok, I totally understand, ya know Bush beans doesn’t give out their secret recipe either even though Duke keeps trying. HAHAHAHAHA, ok, maybe I watch too many commercials.
November 22nd, 2009 at 10:46 pm
LOL…Grandma actually told me how to make it….Well….Grandma gave me her short-cut recipe for the cake part…Ann gave me the homemade recipe (or told me where to find it). The frosting recipe, I already knew as it is one of my all time favorites!
I will be making it this week and I will take a picture and send it in case you want to post it.
And…..Don’t I owe y’all 2 batches of Potato Candy? LOL
