Veterans’ Day….

We had the day off, and I planned to get a lot done. First we had two cats that needed to go to the vet.  Ann’s job.  I really hate going to the vet. I love our vet, but I really feel guilty taking the animals. I will do it if I had to, but if she is available, it becomes her job.   We thought Pippin had broken his tail, as he could not lift it, and it just hung straight down.  Vet said he had injured it, but we have no idea how.  Anyway, Pippin was given a pain shot and a prescription for antibiotics. He was as high as a kite.

Maudie had to stay for the day. Her ears were impacted and her mouth infection had returned. She had to be put out for her procedure and will come home later this afternoon.

Update:  Maudie had to have teeth removed too.  We hit a total of over five hundred dollars, and Ann offered to sell her ovaries to the people in the waiting room.

The poor chickens are wet again. We have had so much rain from the hurricane that I have not been able to keep them dry.  They are covered, but the ground is just so wet. For a treat I boiled up some spaghetti and gave it to them. It has almost no nutritional value, but they enjoy it.  I wonder if they think it is worms.

Even Little Sprout attacked the vicious noodles.

Happy Veterans’ Day

Poor Pippin. He looks like my Lacey when she’s high on catnip. I bought a shirt from the humane society that says, “If you don’t talk to your cat about catnip, who will?” Poor Maudie too.

How about putting down plywood so the chickens aren’t in the mud? Poor Little Sprout.

here’s a bit of inane trivia for you…cat’s metabolize pain medications in a really weird way, so that single injection will help Pippin stay comfortable for several days. Hopefully he will not stay high…but he should have significantly reduced pain.

okay, so here’s my nutrition question for the day. I like spinach in salads, but i hate it cooked. However i DO like spinach noodles. So can you give the chickens spinach pasta? and does it have a different nutritional value?

Wood would get really nasty, but I bet I could put one board in there just so they could stand on something. Ann says they are chickens and they do not even know if they are wet. I think of them feeling just as I do, and if I was wet and muddy, I would be miserable.

I am the same way about spinach. I can eat it in a salad but cannot swallow it cooked. I would think they could have spinach pasta, but I will have to look for some organic that only has spinach, flour and water. I have a list of what you can and cannot feed them somewhere. I know onions and raw potatoes are harmful.

Sorry to hear about the cats and hope there both feeling better soon.

Pippin does look a little high in that picture. lol

how cute are those chickens eating the spaghetti.

Where there any takers for Ann’s ovaries? and how much? hahahahaha

They shot her right down on that ovary offer. Too bad.

  6. pam says:

well, yeah, i mean why would i want Ann’s ovaries when my own have caused so much trouble my entire life? And now they’ve moved into this whole new style of torture they call “hot flashes”. I am completely convinced the country could win wars if we were able to find a way to grow ovaries in enemy soldiers. they’d sit on the front lines crying and fanning themselves, and it’d be over in a matter of days.

hahaha I spit my lunch across the desk. How true;how true.
