I dreamed there was a lot of snow, and it was really beautiful.
I dreamed……..
* the power went off and on for hours until it decided to really go out.
* the smoke alarm in the guest room decided it was its time to start chirping.
* I had to go outside and find a ladder in the pitch dark, with the snow still coming down.
* I removed the smoke alarm battery, seeing only with the head lamp I must have stolen from a miner.
* the power company said the power would be on by 3AM.
* woke to the power still being out, and the chickens buried.
* that when I went out with the yard stick, the snow measured 14 inches.
* that my cell phone was going dead, so I cleaned and started a car. The phone will charge without the car running, but I had to start it so I did not feel guilty.
* I dug out the chickens as best as I could. They gave two eggs.
* that I ruined one pot trying to boil water on the grill. Maybe that black will come out.
* that every time I walked into the bathroom, I tried to turn on the water.
* that at one point I was so bored, I decided to try the blower and get the snow off the back deck. Duh, electric.
* I made nachos by putting them on a cookie sheet and putting the cookie sheet on top of the fireplace.
* I had a melt down and decided I was not meant for any of this.
* I used up all the charge in my computer playing hearts.
* I cannot find the charger for my camera, which is about out of juice, than realize it would not make a difference.
* I went to sleep, in the recliner, while wearing my Sorrel boots, wool socks, fleece pants, a long sleeve shirt, a baha, and a hat.
* I awoke to Xena laying across me shaking. I tried to soothe her for a few minutes and then realized the lights were on, and the damn smoke alarm was chirping again. Having none of the batteries needed, I cut the power to that room.
Wait….that was not a dream. It all happened, and I just might need therapy because of it. It would not have been so bad if I had not been alone. Ann is going to try to get home today, but I will have to hike down to the bottom of the mountain to help her with her things. I do not know when we will get out of here with cars.

Invest in some decent cast iron pots and skillets…They will work beautifully on the grill and wood stove. You’ll be able to cook just about anything on the grill with them.
Your pictures are great. Did the chickens come through it ok?

I feel so badly for you Kathie, but your a trooper at heart.
Hopefully Ann can get to Possum Manor safely to keep you company.

wow…that’s a LOT of snow…
and people are not really meant to deal with that, you know?
back in the old days they weren’t used to electricity…
and they had cows or goats to milk and chores that had to be done no matter if it snowed of not…
and they still got cabin fever and occasionally shot all their friends and neighbors.
but you toughed it out…
becky is right…cast iron is awesome…and you can buy used ones, they last forever, have Ann toss them in a fire to clean them up, season them, and you’re good to go…and you can make the best pancakes in the world in one…
the pictures are great…

I could not have shot at my neighbors, no matter how desperate I became….I have not gun. lol
Ann is coming back this afternoon. I will walk down the mountain and meet her, bring her her boots, and help her bring her stuff up. It is knee deep, so it will not be easy.
I have contacted the guy who did out grading. He is coming out tomorrow to plow the road and our driveway, along with the two of the neighbors. The people at the bottom of the mountain who will benefit from the plowing will never help with the cost, but oh well.
I still cannot find my camera charger. I think it might be in the car that Ann has. I will check when she gets home.
How many nights in a row can one eat nachos?

Why don’t you put a rope on a board and use it like a sled to bring things up the mountain? That will make it easier on your backs. I use a large plastic top to a barrel to bring in wood from that back fence to the garge. Works great.
The dogs might like to go for a ride on it too. lol

well, i am glad Ann is coming home…that will make a world of difference…
and there’s a great idea…you can start training the dogs to pull stuff…get em a wagon for the summers and a little sled for the winter…two of mine would love that…
in fact that is one of my training projects for this year…i want to get the labradoodle a backpack so he can carry the two tiny poodles when we go on longer walks…
anyway, you toughed it out and we’re all very proud of you…and probably glad you didn’t have a gun…
