We had a great day today and really worked hard. We finished just as it really started to rain, so the photos are a big dark. Tomorrow we have to get some straw and place landscape timbers along the side to keep creatures out. Then Monday we can move the kids in. That alone will make a good video. What a long time this took. We would have finished before Christmas if the weather had held out.
We have an interesting entry into the coop. We could not find some kind of a handle in the odds and ends we have, but we did find a door knob.
We also have protection:
We have a couple of perches…
That is a very sturdy ramp too. The right side opens for cleaning and egg collecting. The floor will have dirt and then straw.
We have already decided on the addition we will build this spring. They will go into this house area and be able to go into a larger box that we will be able to access from the outside. So many plans now that we are experienced. hahahha

Looks great Ladies!! I bet it feels great to have it off your ‘to do’ list! Maybe I’ll come down on Monday to watch the moving of the chickens!
alrighty then, I like it! Wow, lots of hard work. Oh is the house insulated LOL. Those chickens will be proud!
Let Ann know, I will be glad to use her ATM card if I ever get back there. The 30 minutes i was there, was not the same Cherokee I remembered.
Norma, hope u doing okay!
Coop is great. Sounds like this project will turn into a condo for the chickens.
I am fine. Slowly moving around.
oh and exactly how will the chickens know to climb such a long ladder? as far as square footage, this one has how much more than the old one? and what are you going to do with the old one, is that Ann’s new office… or a guest room for unruly don’t know how to leave company.
Love the coop and I know the chicks will too, GREAT job ladies!!
Norma, glad to hear that your ok!
great job! the chickens will be proud to call it home.
Speaking of chickens it has been a very long time since we have seen Sprout, who must be quite large by now. I am sure we won’t recognize her. I am truly looking forward to the moving video. Hopefully Maria will show up to make sure it all gets taped for us, since i am betting the actual move is going to require more than four hands.
YAY!!! The coop looks great! Y’all did an outstanding job!!!
