For many reasons. First, I have to work on Monday…and next Saturday to make up two of those damn snow days. Today, I relaxed, did lots of laundry, and reclined on the back deck with a good book. I am becoming good at sorbet. I am a sorbet miester. My fresh strawberry was fantastic. Today I made cantaloupe. Thinking of coffee and maybe tea. Hmmmm . I had planned on doing four more gallons of strawberries, but when I went to the farmers’ market yesterday, I was told the strawberries were done. Poop. I am hoping to get a hold of some reasonably priced raspberries when the season arrives. Love them even more than strawberries, but they are soooooo expensive.
First, flowers of Possum Manor…..they just keep coming. Next should be sun flowers, giant ones.
Well, I guess I lied. These are not blooms, but I think they are going to be raspberries or blackberries.
Mini daisies. I did not know we even had them.
We have no idea what these are, but they bloom in the morning and are closed up by afternoon.
We have baskets hanging on the front deck with the intention of feeding the hummingbirds.
The chickens are well. They are actually spoiled. The six eggs are being taken care of by two of the hens. They should hatch two weeks from today. Aren’t they sweet?
Now for the videos:
Brando has decided that the cats are friends and has promised not to eat them.
Here are the proud mamas. Wait until they realize they are going to hatch huge chicks.
My brainstorm of buying three dozen crickets was not as great as the anticipation.
My Saturday afternoon:

Haha! Those are great videos! I think my favorite part was hearing Ann at the end of the cricket video say “Well, that was a disappointment”. I don’t know why, but that just cracked me up!
Love the pics. Especially the one of the 2 hens sitting together on the eggs. Have you thought of googling the flowers to find out what they are? If you had closer pictures of them, I might be able to help with names.
Well, time for me to get moving. I have a lot of flowers to plant in my yard.
Bummer you have to work today, love the pics and the one with the two chicks sitting on the eggs is a great one. The videos are great and like Maria mentioned whomever said “Well that was a disappointment” in the chicks video it was very funny, it made me laugh also.
you would expect the death and eating of so any crickets to be more dramatic, huh? At least you’d think the little things would fight back a bit or something.
My personal favorite is collective egg sitting. Can you just hear the chicken conversations? “My ass is not big enough”. Not exactly the comment you’d expect from Poultry Mountain or Possum Manor, eh? But the concept of cooperation and helping out someone in need of a spare hand (or butt) seems to be a hallmark of the mountain.
I have a new foster dog. He’s twelve pounds, and for the first time in a couple of years- with no history of ever biting anyone. My last several fosters have all been biters. It’s really nice to have a sweet little guy.
Pam, THANKS for the laugh!!

Well, I offered them my big ole butt, but they declined. Today they were sitting next to each other, and when I lifted them to put them near their food, I noticed all the eggs were under only one of them. Tomorrow they will be divided or maybe not.
Yes, they do cooperate with each other, and I am sure they will wonder why the hell their chicks are so big. But they will not care.
I thought there would be this mad scramble for the crickets, but they were faster than the crickets and it was over before we knew it.
Pam, how come you are fostering a nice dog? Didn’t the family want it?
Also, I have to work Saturday too. So, if I do not blog, you will forgive me.
I am fostering a nice dog because people are butts sometimes. Actually the rescue gets a lot of nice dogs- they just usually do not come to my house. That’s because we don’t have children and i don’t object to fostering the nasty little biters. We actually have a pretty good record of turning their nasty little dispositions around.Otis is maybe ten years old- and had really bad decay in his mouth- so bad that when they removed some of the bad teeth his jaw fractured from the bone loss, so now his little jaw is wired. And he still carries around tennis balls. I cannot imagine why someone would dump him at the dog pound- but someone did.
Now, as to working and blogging- only for your own good and all- let me remind you of your new years resolution to blog three times a week. I mean i do not want you to fail in your resolution and stuff- so i mean, you know. So, okay, yeah, of course no one would hold it against you if you worked and did not blog- but we’d miss it. And you would miss it too.
I did not follow my resolution to lose weight either. lol But the difference is, I like to blog. I will make up for it,I promise. I always feel guilty when I blog with not photo, but maybe I need to get over that.
How does Otis eat?
they do not wire the top to the bottom like people, so his mouth works normally. The wires kind of wrap around his lower jaw somehow. And of course he eats soft food right now- but he still carries that damn tennis ball.
I do not care if you blog with pictures. I love your pictures and videos- but student antics and things Brando does are equally fun.
