First, you have to hear about today. it was one of the hottest days of the summer, and our power went out for about three hours. I heard, “Boom!” and the lights went out. I did not care about the lights necessarily, as it was a bright day. But, the air conditioning went out, and I thought I would melt. I had had the oven on earlier, and I had heated up the kitchen nicely. It went off about 11:30 AM and came back around 3PM. Phew!
I made biscotti this morning. I believe the translation of biscotti from Italian is twice baked, which is what you do. You make it into log and bake.
After they cool a bit, you cut them into slices (on the diagonal). You then put them back in the oven and bake, and then turn them and bake more. They are really wonderful. I made gingerbread biscotti only because I had the ingredients for it. I am planning on making almond and chocolate chip tomorrow, after I go to the store. Oh, those are two different recipes not almond chocolate chip. lol
Now for the show……My favorite chicken, Little Bean, is the star.

Very cute chicken tricks!
Your biscotti looks great! How about the recipe like you used to give?
Cute chicken video!
okay, i can tell why you like little bean best. Personality rules every time.
the biscotti does look great- but what a day to make it, huh?
we keep these weird peanut butter dog treats in an old biscotti container- big plastic thing, you know? The handyman thinks they taste great- and I do not have the heart to tell him what they are- now i just hide the container if i know he is coming.
my personal favorite kind (of already made actual biscotti) is chocolate chip with this chocolate stuff drizzled all over the top.
Gingerbread sounds really good, though, and yours look really good!
Cute chicken tricks. I would have love to seen them spread the straw around. I can’t help wonder how they do that.
It is too hot to bake. Don’t know how you could stand it, even with the AC on.
I need to do some more baking today. My nephew and his wife are coming
for a visit, and I need to have some things around.
The chicken kick the straw backward. They walk and kick and walk and kick. I think they do it to look for bugs, but maybe they like to decorate.
OMG….I’m hysterical here picturing the chickens kicking the straw. What a sight it must be and too bad you can’t get that on video or can you?! Their little straw dance, hahahaha.
Now that would be a funny video. You could enter that on America’s Most Funny videos. Maybe some day you could take that video…lol.
You need to get them a tiny soccer ball and let them kick that around! What a hoot!
okay, now i am laughing-
i have this mental picture of chickens with a soccer ball-
and of course they are going to peck at it…
and one of them is going to end up with the soccer ball stuck on it’s beak.
Now Kathie is going to have to catch the chicken to get that off-
because obviously it cannot eat with a soccer ball on there…
and the other chickens still want to kick and peck at the ball-
so everyone is chasing a chicken with a soccer ball stuck on its head…
now that would make a video to remember.
I have been figuring out how to take a video of the chickens while the Chicken Dance plays in the background.
shoot it in segments that are 10 seconds max- then use animoto- they take 10 second video clips now.
or you could get Ann the Wasp Warrior Princess to be the chicken dance DJ.
OMG….Pam, stop now, I’m laughing at the images of the soccer ball videos!! Too darn funny!
I hate to break it to you, but the chickens will not play soccer. They hate those horns.
We’ll just have to settle for the chicken dance video’s!
