Big Blue Ridge Parkway and Waterfall Blog

It was a great day. We did not end up where we were headed, but it was a great day anyway.

On the way to getting lost….

Bridal Veil Falls.  They said it was the most photographed falls in the area.  Heck, that is why everyone was there.

We did not swim here because there were just too many people. Mainly screaming children. Why do children scream?

This was the underside of a big rock.

I just loved this place.

okay, i have opinions about why children scream. Here’s the thing- you remember how they say if you like lose one sense the others become more acute? Well, first off, let me just say that is NOT true when you age- i cannot see without glasses, and i may need a miracle ear- but they SAY it anyway-

But, here we go- remember that baby food is bland because babies have an acute sense of taste. But they make up for that by not being able to hear themselves. A tiny noise made by someone else may disturb or wake them, but they are immune to their own damn noise. They do not hear anything produced by them. I believe it is because there are freaking noise gremlins in their ears who increase sounds made by anyone else- and wave away sound waves produced by the child.

Now, the noise gremlins have a super secret alliance with the behavior gremlins. the behavior gremlins go around whispering cool ideas for new ways to annoy adults into children’s ears.

and all of this happens because the gremlins are all in servitude to the mavens of mayhem who go around powered by the energy they gain from adults trying to restrain themselves from maiming or killing children.

    or something like that.

lol I thought they were just trying to annoy me.

Wow Pam! You really have too much time on your hands to be able to concoct such an intrincate reason for kids screaming. Kids scream; end of story.

The water is beautiful and made me run to pee before I replied, lol. I like the more private one you found as well.

How come we only heard Sal but didn’t get to see him?

  4. Kathie says:

He was in the video…a tiny bit. I actually have a video of him that I sent to his daughters. I will ask him about putting it up.

I also think there must be an operation for kids to make it impossible to scream like that unless they are face to face with a bear. Then depending on the kind of bear, they might scream.

Tape. Duct tape might work too.

  6. pam says:

yeah, well, the kids emerge into real life from their amniotic free float and the first thing we do is make them scream. And then we wonder why they continue. They continue to scream for a couple of years, while we reward their screams by alternatively shoving food in one end and wiping it off the other. Then they learn words- useful words like “no”, “kiss my ass”, and “i am going to hold my breath till i turn blue”.

(just as an aside here- if they threaten to turn blue- let them. Not only is it entertaining for you- but if they DO turn blue they will pass out and immediately begin breathing again. AND it is quiet both while they are holding their breath and while they are unconscious.)

personally i think duct tape may immobilize the gremlins, rendering them powerless. You should probably conduct experiments regarding this in school. Don’t worry about those other adults with handcuffs and allegations of “child abuse”- after all, it’s all about the science, right?

    Duct tape works for everything.

Love the waterfalls. I wish I could wake up each morning and sit by one with a cup of tea. That would be so wonderful and peaceful.

  8. Dianna says:

LOVE the pictures and the videos of the waterfalls!! So calm and serene, I absolutely LOVE waterfalls. Too bad you didn’t find the original one but this one I’d say is second best. I could sit at that one spot you were showing us all day, so peacefull.

  10. Kathie says:

    You went bowling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. pam says:

Dianna they only make bowling shoes ugly so folks do not steal the rental shoes.

Kathie, i know you warned us about not blogging so much while school was in session, but the first day is major! Or were you waiting for the first day with kids to update us on the horrors in store for you this year?

  12. Dianna says:

HAHAHA, you guessed it and man were they really ugly and yes Pam I agree with you their made very ugly so no one steals them and beleive me nobody wanted the pair I was wearing today. LOL

  13. Kathie says:

I lived through it, but I was asleep before nine last night. It will get better. Kids do not come back until Tuesday.

I owned my own bowling shoes once, thanks to Dianna’s mom.

  14. Dianna says:

  15. Kathie says:
