Story of a dog toy

My dogs got a toy in the mail today from Jan. It is a funny thing, a rooster. You stretch it, and it flings across the room, crowing the whole time. Brando was the first to claim it as his. He ran to get it and immediately took it to his bed. He likes to disembowel his toys on his bed.

He tossed it in the air a few times …

And then a bad thing happened.  It crowed while it was in his mouth. He took it into the livingroom, spit it out, and began to whine. I had never heard that dog whine for so long. I thought he was hurt or something, but no, he was just afraid of his toy.   So there it sits, de-combed but not disemboweled.

I may call the dog whisperer.

    poor Brando is so misunderstood.

You have to love the lug.

Awwww…Bless his sweet little heart! Poor Brando!

Gotta love that dog!! So, did any of the other dogs try to claim the toy or once Brando has had it that’s it for them?

My daughter’s little 10 lb Shih Tzu, Munchie, howls when her flying monkey toy makes noise. She growls at it and shakes it and is real fierce. (I thought a rooster toy was more appropriate for your house.) So are you saying Brando is a wimp?

  6. pam says:

i do not think Brando is a wimp- i think he is “differently courageous”. He seems to me to be a dog like our labradoodle- who is plenty courageous when he is on a leash or safe on the other side of a fence- the trouble is that once he gets to the danger side of the fence he has burned up all his courage, you know? The five pound poodle he barks at through the gate is unquestionably the boss when they’re on the same side.

or, well, in the case of Brando and the chicken- what may have seemed a great toy- when it crowed in his mouth may have been devastating.I mean it looked like a great toy, right? And at the same time he knows he isn’t allowed to eat the chickens. Can you not imagine the bog “woops, my mom is going to kill me”?

So, is Brando still afraid of his toy today? Have you picked it up to show him that there is nothing to be afraid of?

  8. Kathie says:

First, I have to say we are without internet, and have been since Saturday evening. Must be what heroin atticts go through when they cannot get the good stuff.

The toy made its way upstairs, and that is where it sits. I will try again. He likes carrying it in his mouth, but when it crowed he dropped it like a hot coal and cocked his head back and forth. Brando has become such a mushy guy, which we love. We do laugh at his cowardness though.

To those I owe email…it will happen. It just cannot type much on my phone.
