Brando is a sweet dog. He gets really scared when it gets dark, and he has to lean or sit on you. He would not have had to spend all his time in doggie jail when he was going to puppy school if they did not do everything with that dry tube of dog food (They aptly referred to it as puppy crack.) He had such food issues that it did not matter that I had a full bag of the puppy crack; he just did not want anyone else to have it.

I think he feels his job is to protect the house; he just does not have it in him to do it.

you know, i really like Brando. I think he's very misunderstood. Obviously he is not hungry, so he's preserving it for its toy value.

One of our dogs is very Brando-ish (well, Jack is also very smart)- he's planning to start a doggie obedience class around Easter- and i fully expect him to spend most of his time in dog jail.

also- i think daily pictures of Lucille should be like mandatory. They grow up so fast, you know?

Oh, how cute Lucille is. Brando sounds like my dog. I give her a chew bone and she plays with it before eating it. She even tries to hide it in the furniture or her bed. I don't buy the white chew bones or the white ones dipped in flavoring (looks like the one Brando has). They are bleached to get then white and hard. They can hurt or break their teeth. So I buy only the natural ones. They are always brown and when they get them wet, they soften up. They won't hurt her teeth and they still clean them. Brando may have this issue. That is why you say he does not eat it right away. But then again, he may want to tease the others, too.

NOW i get the laying on your belly to get eggs! The other hens are laying under there too? I mean i know you built the chicken house so no belly in the chicken poop would happen- but now i can clearly see how it is happening.

Even the limited baby pictures are great. You can see a difference in little Lucille already- and she's pretty.

The baby spends most of its time under the mom, so it is nice and warm. I did get the eggs, but the rooster was not happy. He really does his job protecting the hens. As I was reaching under her to get the eggs, the hen was trying to peck my hand. All is well.

Maybe when you put the addition on the "Super-Coup" you should construct a nest box that is easier to access?

OMG! When I saw those pussy willows, it reminded me of our yard back in Livonia when we were growing up. We had 3 huge bushes full of them and we loved petting them. Now they are so expensive to buy a few branches to have in the house.

Lots of luck with the eggs. You will have to tell us how that went. What happens if it gets too cold for the little one and she can't get up to the box? Can Mom carry her or will they stay on the ground? Do you have straw on the ground for them?
